THE FILMMAKER
from a vivid imagination.
Straitjacket Films is a new, Nashville-based, independent production company. Founded by aspiring Director/Screenwriter Carmela Porcelli, strives to create a collaborative collective to bring stories to life. From having her own YouTube channel in elementary school to writing scripts in the back of her mother's H2 Hummer at eight years old, entertainment has always been at the center of her heart. She followed in the footsteps of her mother, Wendy Ellis, an independent writer/director in her own right. Showing her daughter films such as "Rosemary's Baby" and "Rocky Horror Picture Show", planted the seed for Carmela's love of the craft.
THE APPROACH
Restraint
Every element on screen must justify its presence. We cut until what remains is essential.
Tension
Conflict doesn't require violence. The most unbearable scenes are the quiet ones.
Precision
We work with small crews and long prep. The shot list is a contract, not a suggestion.
